The Big Hike Part III

So, the only people we encountered on the way up the mountain was this group with their 4 dogs...3 grown dogs and this little , cute, adorable, sweet 7 week old rescue that they were trying to place.  With us.  Honestly, if we did not have a pug who is getting read to be elderly (Mully is 11 1/2...crazy) and a relatively new guinea pig, we might actually have come home with this puppy.  She was stinkin' cute.  Alas, it was not to be and we said adios to the little cutie. I am sure she found a happy home, she was totally loveable.  The other two pictures are of the kids nearly at the top, and then at the top of the mountain.  The path the kids are on is after you get to the top and the trail intersects with a couple of the other trails that go across the Badlands.  Its an odd place...one minute you are in the middle of Heartland, USA will rolling hills and fields and fields of corn and wheat and then suddenly, BOOM, you are in the Badlands, all this odd rocks and bluffs and no plants at all.  On this hike, you reach the top and all of a sudden there is a flat path and vegetation and you can look over the edge back where you came from and its so very ODD.
