Miscellaneous 2014 Update

1.  Daniel did band camp this summer and started playing the baritone.  He waffles between really liking it and complaining about it.  I think the complaints are all bluster...the most sincere response seems to be "band is fun"!  His first recital is in January so we'll see how that goes.

2.  Last winter I went on Daniel's 5th Grade Field trip to Highland Ski.  My first time on skis since oh, about 2001.  As a matter of fact, the lift ticket from that trip was still on my coat.  Daniel was up and down the mountain in no time.  He is a natural.  I did fine...at least, I thought so! I only fell twice and once was in line during the "lesson".  I promised to get the other two up on skis this winter and we did head out between Christmas and New Years.  Macey was going down hills within 30 minutes.  Josh did not really get the hang of it.  I decided we need to get him a lesson next time because I am just not capable of teaching him what to do.

3.  This year we went to a Timberwolves game over spring break with Macey's basketball team, a hockey game to watch MN get trampled all over, Jason went to a Seahawks playoff game where Daniel was supposed to go with but was so sick that he could not make the flight, and I hit a Twins game with the boys when Owen and Tyler were out this summer.

4.  My New Years Resolution this year is to take the reusable bags to the grocery store and use those instead of the paper or plastic bags at the store.  Seems so simple and yet so hard to remember to do!  I am enlisting the kids help this year so that I have a prayer of remembering.

5.  Spring Break 2014 we stayed home and did a "staycation".  We did a day adventures each day and I took each of the kids one on one to do something.  Macey and I went to MOA and we did the high-wire walk. Well, I tried it.  I bailed VERY quickly.  Who knew heights were not for me?  Well, they are not.  I was sweating, my vision was going and I felt like I was going to hypervenelate.  Down I went. Macey, the little stinker, went all over the thing and was up there for a long time.  She had a blast.  Is there anything that kid can't do??

Daniel and I went to the bowling alley and went bowling (I kicked his butt) and played laser tag.  Now, I don't know when laser tag was invented but it had to be after I was an adult because I have never done it before.  It was AWESOME!  So much fun.  Daniel and I played three times and twice we were the top players.  I can totally see the appeal.  Very good time.

Josh and I went to MOA and did rides and had lunch.  We also cruised through the Lego store but did not buy anything.

We also all went roller skating one day...Macey brought Mia along, Daniel brought Sam and Josh and I were buddies.  Josh was not a huge fan of the skates.  We enjoyed an afternoon at the skate rink.
