Things I had forgotten...
...about taking a baby to the beach.
They love sand. They love to eat it. They love to play in it. They love to roll around in it. They love to get it into every crease on their rotund, roly-poly little bodies, in places you had forgotten they had places.
They love to get up early. Really early. When not in their comfy cozy cribs at home, the first sign of sunlight is a signal to wake up. I think I slept until 6:15am one morning...otherwise, it was rise and shine before first light every day of "vacation"...hummmmm, vacation, anyone????
They love the water. They have no care if the water temp is somewhere around 62 degrees. They have no care if you just dressed them in clean clothes and put a sweatshirt on them because it was chilly out. Put them on the beach within charging distance of the waves and off they go...and woe is you for trying to stand in their way!!!
They don't really get into shell hunting. Trying to keep them by your side as you look for neat things at the high tide mark is really not all that a good an idea...they really want to either eat what they find (see above), run into the water (see above also) or just sit down and cry because they are tired because they got up too early (see above again).
They love ice cream cones. Enough said.

Sneads Ferry and Topsail Island April 2010
We went to Sneads Ferry, NC for a wedding followed by a week of fun and sun at Topsail Island. These are a few of M from the wedding. It was at the family home of my friend Scott (the groom-the bride is Laura) right on the water. M and I explored the docks after the ceremony and took some of our own pictures of the wedding party. The wedding was lovely and was a great start to our week.
