Grandmom Jefferson's Christmas Tree Angel

I don't have many stories or keepsakes from my Dad's mom, my Grandmom Jefferson.  My aunt Brenda, my Dad's younger sister, posted this on facebook and then I asked her to send me a picture of it up close.

Per Aunt Brenda:  The angel on top of this tree is at least 60 years old.  Mom placed her on top our Christmas cedar tree cut each year from property that my oldest brother would deer hunt on.  I wish she could talk and tell of our family childhood Christmases!! Merry Christma season to all! (She still blinks!)

The "Mom" in her story is my paternal grandmother Lucielle Dameron Jefferson.  She died when I was in high school, if I recall correctly.  That was the first time I ever saw my Dad cry.  The "oldest brother" referred to in her facebook post was my father.  He was an avid deer hunter.  I never heard him describe cutting down a live tree though he did love live trees and he loved Christmas.

My guys hanging out...very sweet.

leftovers are the best!  "fruit salad-yummy yummy"

Yes, more fishing, in November this time...

I had a nice walk while the boys fished.

The scene of the crime...not a boy in sight but lots of their stuff...
Josh with his partners in crime.  He loves it when they can come along or he can go along; he's also perfectly happy just going on his own or with his mama along for company.

We saw a great blue heron, probably the last of the season, as they generally are gone by October.  Another victim of global warming.
Me at around three with my fish.  One of the iconic pictures from my childhood.
