The kids toured Pearl Harbor and the USS Missouri
They spent a day at the Hawaii Cultural Center
The Hawaii itinerary included some amazing adventures...they stayed in Honolulu, went to Secret Island with a stop at Pali Lookout along the way, toured Macadamia Nut Farm, ate out at Hard Rock Cafe (Macey particularly enjoyed went the whole restaurant was singing songs together), toured USS Arizona Memorial and the USS Missouri, watched the jazz band perform on the Missouri, had lots of free time in Waikiki, hiked Diamond Head (a favorite of everyone), marched in the Pearl Harbor Parade, went on a catamaran excursion, spent a day at the Polynesian Cultural Center and stopped at Dole Plantation, watched Pageant of the Long Canoes in the Seven Polynesian Villages saw the HA Breath of Life evening show and then headed home again...quite the trip of a lifetime!! Macey's favorite part was the night swim that the Band Directors organized which was not even part of the official itinerary; Daniel loved playing in the parade.
Irene made the trip the same week and while she was not able to see the kids otherwise, she did see them at the parade and walked alongside them for much of the time. According to her, their performance was the best parade performance she has ever seen and with two kids who were in band and a number of grandchildren (so far!), she has seen a lot of band performances! High praise from Granny!
