This was a doozy of a hike. It started out in the parking lot at the South Rim of the Yellowstone Canyon and proceeded along the rim to Artists Point. Then we left the "official" trail and took the backcountry route through the park and around on a huge loop back to the parking lot again through the woods. It was a really awesome hike that included stunning views into the Canyon, paths that on the left side fell hundreds of feet straight down so that we kept admonishing the kids to stay single file and to the right, woodways through tall lush pine woods, a portion of the hike through what is known as the moonscape (or something like that) because it looks like you are on the moon with all the white, dead surroundings everywhere and hot pots boiling inches and feet off the trail. It ended going through a huge meadow where the path cut through tall grass. Fabulous day, fabulous hike, great job Kim and Jeff finding all these awesome hikes for us in both Tetons and Yellowstone!
