This afternoon we headed into West Yellowstone (the town, not the west part of the park) and went to the Grizzly and Wolf Rescue Center. I expected to see some displays, view the bears and wolves and maybe listen to a wildlife expert tell us a little bit about wolves and bears in the wild. We did all that, but so much more! They have this activity where they let kids go into the bear habitat and hide the bear food, after which they release the bears and the kids can watch (from safely outside the bear habitat, mind you) the bears come out and find the food they hide. It was educational because they told them a lot about where the bears came from, why they were in captivity, how they "enrich" their lives and how and why they feed them the way they do. It was pretty neat.
