Minnesota Ironman 2013

Jack, Daniel and I did the MN Ironman.  I have done this ride (the 30 mile route) for the past 5 or 6 years when it was in Lakeville and every year the weather was miserable. One year, we bailed in the middle because there was a thunderstorm and lightning in addition to the soaking rain.  One year I thought I was going to lose my toes it was so stinking cold.  Last year there was snow as I drove to the venue.  That's why they call it the Ironman.  This year, Daniel and Jack joined me and we did the 15 mile ride and the weather was PERFECT!!!  The boys had fun, I enjoyed hanging out with them, and we plan to do it again. I really think they could handle the 30 mile so next year we are going to step it up and do that.  They seemed game!  Maybe next year we will be able to get in a training ride or two before the actual ride...this year, there were maybe 3 days when we could have done training rides. Next spring HAS to be better!

Spring Bikes

We got Daniel and Macey new bikes this year...with gears!  Macey's has 6 and Daniel has them on both sides...18 I guess.  Macey insists that she can't really tell the difference but I think she's full of baloney. Daniel agrees that this bike is better.  We plan to do some biking this summer and we started out by taking Daniel on his first official "bike ride"...the MN Ironman!  Josh did not get a new bike but there are about 10 bikes in our garage that he can choose from...girl and boy bikes for any size child from 2 to 9...Josh will never want for a bike.  However, there are no training wheels that fit so we're on the adventure of teaching him to ride without them.  He is catching on but not there yet.  Teaching them to bike is so fun...there's that magic moment when they just  GET it and can take off on their own. One of the magical moments of parenthood in my opinion.

Note that in these pictures there is no snow on the ground.  This weekend when I bought them the bikes, we thought we were almost there.  Little did we know that we still had a month+ of snow coming to us...and that month included somewhere in the neighborhood of 30 or 40 cumulative inches of snow.  The snowiest April on record.  Oh, and the snow the first couple of days of May was fun too.  Today is May 7 and hopefully we are now past it and can look forward to warm days ahead.  PLEASE let it be so!!!

MagiQuest at the Dells

Naturally, this was Daniel's favorite part.  Macey enjoyed it too, far more than I thought she would.  I can see the appeal, but it certainly was not my favorite part.

Macey and the Lily Pads

I could not get pictures of Josh on the lily pads because I had to be in the water as he went across but he was a gamer and did great!
