Mesa Verde...down, down, down, into the storm we went...

 this was our last stop before we headed back down the mountain...note the sun is still shining, the blue sky is still visible, there are only fluffy happy clouds to be seen.

 on the way down it started to snow...we went through a tunnel and came out the other side of the mountain and BAM! we were in the middle of a blizzard with low visibility and snow covering the roads which I have already described as daunting going up...the way down was something else entirely.

 yes, those are small drifts of snow where before there were only shadows from the sunlight...when they say weather in the mountains can change in an instant, they are NOT kidding.
