Evie MAY have lost a sock to a bloody nose on our walk...we'll never tell.
These woods were lovely, dark and deep...we didn't go Frost's "miles" because the kids were anxious to get back to the camp to do some "campin'" but we certainly did enjoy the forest-like atmosphere.
Meandering path ahead of us.
Bridge over small waters... no trouble here.
A "Rest Stop" along the trail...it was restful because there was a lovely view of the lake through the trees and there was a picnic table but there were no "restrooms" of the traditional kind. We liked this rest area very much indeed.
Evie had the brilliant idea of taking pictures thru the tree-clever girl, that one.
I stood between Josh and Macey and took a picture of each one with the Sakatah Singing Hills Trail behind them. To the left and right of me as far as I could see there was just a straight path eventually trailing off into the woods. Really cool. The trail is 39 miles between Faribault and Mankato made on what used to be an old railroad track. We walked a couple of miles of it, going one way on one walk and going the other on a different walk. I think it would be fun to bike the whole distance, its a really nice trail, pretty flat, along the lake and river for much of the way and through this amazing "Big Woods".
