Quick Bites

The week of sickness...has finally (we hope) drawn to a close. Jason was down and out all last weekend, Josh caught it by Monday and Daniel was taken out on Wednesday/Thursday. We had three positive strep tests, one unofficial earache, one official ear infection, one trip to the ER for a nebulizer treatment, four scrips for antibiotics including one potential allergic reaction, a prescription for a short-term inhaler and four "vacation" days for Mom and Dad. Everyone went off to school and work today so we are hopeful that we are done! Oddly enough, while I am clearly complaining, in the back of my mind I realize that we can not complain too much. Our kids are actually very healthy and this is the first time we have ever had to keep anyone home for more than one day and we have only had antibiotics make their way into our lives a handful of times. Given that we have three kids between 8 and 2, I think we're doing okay. We'll chalk this one up to the crazy winter we are having and say a little prayer that it does not repeat again!! Oh, and another prayer that Mom and Macey stay in the clear!!

The winter of crazy weather...is continuing on. A couple of delightful stats for those of you who are inclined to care...and please note that this is what I have gathered from random comments on the radio and tv, there was no scientific study or independent confirmation of this information...December 2010 was the snowiest December on record. Over 59 inches (that's as tall as me, in case you need a frame of reference) of snow fell in the Twin Cities during that 31 day period. January 2011 was the first January in 30 years when there was not a single day, hour or even SECOND when the weather was above freezing. You heard it here, folks, it did not get above 32 degrees EVEN ONCE during this past month. That, my friends, is weird to think about. Well, its February now and we are well on our way to spring... I signed the kids up for spring soccer and baseball so the writing is on the wall...winter will end some day!!

William Seth Littleton... my sister Cathy had her baby boy Billy two weeks ago...he is doing great. Josh and I are headed out there to visit and hang out with baby the second week of March. Can't wait to see the little guy!!
